The assault maps we played provided quite a different experience from standard deathmatch and will likely appeal to players who enjoy working toward specific objectives in games like Counter-Strike and Battlefield 1942 without having to deal with punishing realism or difficult flight controls."– Gamespot[4]"The one Assault map we were shown at E3 took place in space. Yes, in space, with one team flying one man fighters to try and dock at a space station to take it over while the defending team fires turrets and launches its own fighters to stop them. Think UT mixed with the Death Star attack and you will get the idea."– HomeLan Fed[5]"Easily one of the most unique maps in all of Unreal Tournament 2004, "MotherShip" starts off in the coldness of space, where both teams can engage in some ship-to-ship dogfighting. Defenders also have the option of controlling various turrets placed around the station, all designed to stop the attackers from bringing down the shields and boarding.Once the attackers have boarded the ship, everything switches to on-foot action -- once an energy bypass has been destroyed, the attackers need to destroy a series of turrets, reach the ship's core and blow up the conductor. Like Glacier, the final stages of MotherShip are an all-out assault -- it's usually a matter of how well the defenders can slow down the attack."– GameSpy[6]Accolades[]The map was ranked 9th. place in BeyondUnreal's Top-10 Most Innovative UT2004 Level Designs:[7]"Another official UT2004 map that breaks new ground for the series with its space battle. This drop dead gorgeous map is the artistic opposite of Joust, and it serves well as a proof-of-concept and fits perfectly in the Unreal Tournament heritage of action in blazingly new arenas. You won't mistake the combat for something you'd see in the Independence War series, but UT2004 series innovation is what this list is all about, right?"– BU's Top-10 Most Innovative UT2004 MapsExternal links and references[]↑ Calvert, Justin (May 14, 2003). Unreal Tournament 2004 (aka UT2K4)Step 1: Install Unreal Tournament 2004If you have purchased Unreal Tournament 2004 on GOG, Steam or a physical copy that is great. Use that.Otherwise, it appears the game is currently abandoned by Epic and is unavailable for purchase.I can’t speak for your location or local laws or how any of that works. However, I do know that archive.org is in the business of preservation when software has been abandoned. This is no endorsement or recommendation. This is just what I have observed. This link appears to be the ones I have seen suggested on forums. It appears the version to have is the GOG Editor’s Choice Edition. Download and use at your own risk. I personally used my Steam copy that I purchased years ago.download: (No CD Key Needed)alternative download: (You will need a CD Key)Step 2: Install the patch (same caveats as in step 1)if you install from Steam/GOG you should have the latest (version 3369) if not you can grab the patch here: (unsure which version you have? Go to Join Game while in Unreal Tournament 2004 … you don’t have to join a game … the version is in the upper right hand corner)The next 2 steps are optional. Feel free to jump to Step 5Step 3: Optional – Master Server News & Server SearchFor Master Server news and finding other servers … In the game, open the console (~ key) and paste the following command and run it:set IpDrv.MasterServerLink MasterServerList ((Address="utmaster.openspy.net",Port=28902))Step 4: Optional – Widescreen and Video SetupFor more detailed Video Setup 5: Join the server (info here: Server Info)That’s it. No more steps.
