Forgotten Hope 2 (also known as FH2) is a modification for DICE's Battlefield 2. It was released in 2007 as a sequel to the 2003 modification Forgotten Hope for DICE's Battlefield 1942.Overview[]Forgotten Hope 2 is set in the Second World War in the West European, East European and North African theatres. Compared to its source material, it takes a far more realistic view of combat - infantry are far more fragile, with most weapons killing instantly with a single round; fallen soldiers cannot be revived from death and armoured vehicles are invulnerable to small arms and hand grenades.As with the mainline Battlefield games, Forgotten Hope 2 not only encourages but rather demands teamwork - without close coordination between the various classes of infantry, transportation vehicles, armoured vehicles, artillery and aircraft, players will quickly find themselves defeated. Contrariwise, a well-coordinated team is capable of claiming victory from even the most difficult of circumstances.Weapons and Vehicles[]As with its source materials, Forgotten Hope 2 features a wide array of weaponry - including knives, submachine guns, sniper rifles, explosives and more - and vehicles - including scout cars, tanks, aircraft and naval vessels. Both weapons and vehicles are specific to each nation and are not necessarily identical: while one nation may have access to anti-tank rifles, another may instead have handheld explosives. The Vesuri is a Finnish close combat weapon in Forgotten Hope 2. A similar concept to the machete, the Vesuri was issued to machine gun crews to aid in the preparation of firing positions.Overview[]The Vesuri is a curved machete, with a distinct hook-shaped blade, attached to a simple wooden handle. The heavy curve is intended to prevent damage to the blade if the weapon is accidentally swung into the ground.When used, the Vesuri is swung to deliver a heavy blow from either right or left. It is capable of instantly killing enemy infantry; however, this of course requires the user to be within melee range of the enemy - a hazardous situation at best.
